VCIX-NV Study Guide

Welcome to the (Un)Official VMware VCIX-NV Study Guide! During the course of my training for the VCIX-NV certification, I started keeping notes working through the blueprint and decided to turn those notes into full fledged posts detailing the requirements of the VCIX-NV blueprint.

The topics below are taken from the VCIX-NV blueprint guide version 1.7, Dec 2014. For the full 245 pages in a compiled PDF form, click the download button on the right. If you’d like to repost this guide, please do, but link to this page. The button helps me count the downloads. πŸ™‚

I appreciate any feedback, questions or comments you might have. Like this guide? Help me make it better by submitting any feedback, questions or comments are highly appreciated. You can also help me build out my home lab for more content. Donating is definitely not required, but high appreciated!

  9. Nice work on getting the VCIX-NV certification!
I see that you have used a recent version of NSX in your study notes, while the blueprint says that the exam is based on Ver 6.0.2.
Can you confirm that an older version is used in the actual exam?

      Hi Heine,

You’re right, I cheated on a few occasions by using 6.1 instead of 6.0.x, depending on where I was when writing. I can confirm the exam is based on 6.0.x.

  10. How can I get NSX to setup a study lab? πŸ™

      Hi Arsalan,

At this time, you need to either have bought NSX or be a partner and have followed to NSX ICM training to be able to download it. Some rumours are going around that NSX will go public with the release of vSphere 6.0 though, I’m hoping those rumours are true.

  11. Thanks for sharing. This is the most comprehensive study guide I’ve seen so far.

  12. Thanks for sharing. very useful for me.

      Hi Ryan,

I have the fortune of working for an integrator which has a fully equipped test lab. Installed my own virtual NSX environment, upgraded, abused and broke it and did that a few more times. I wouldn’t recommend only using the HOL for VCIX-NV, as you cannot do everything on there (like upgrades) that is on the blueprint.
