When vSphere 6.0 was announced with all its shiny awesome features yesterday, which took the (well deserved) spotlight. There was another announcement that deserves some kind of a spotlight; a new certification system.

VMware has replaced the VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) with the VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX), which was already in place for Network Virtualization (NSX for vSphere). Like the VCAP certification, VCIX will have an exam focussed on administration and an exam focussed on design. Having a VCIX will be a requirement for getting to VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX).
